Thoughts about England and British culture

I promised to write a blog about this, so I should start writing about something!
And since there is around 9 days left until I leave the safe city of Stavanger, I guess I can share some thoughts about my journey to England, and what I have done to prepare myself.

I have now completed stuff like paying for the apartment I am going to live in, printed heath documents and bank documents, looked through all the papers I have got in my mailbox from the university.
It feels very satisfying to have almost all the puzzle pieces in place, and the only thing I need to do is look forward for what this adventure will offer me.

The mental preparation I am working on in my mind, includes things like trying to see the world through a British perspective. I am not calming that I think I will become, or think like a British person just because I am going to live in England, but I think it will help me to prepare for the journey.

The other things I have noticed that I am doing, is getting more aware of how much British culture and media is effecting my life. Since I am going to be a student at the Film Production course, I have noticed that a lot of the tv-series, movies, or simply stories that I love, all are English productions.

I think getting deeper into another culture that is so similar, but in a way also so differently than my own, is a very interesting experiment and exercise. After all I am going to spend some time there.

Arts University Bournemouth

From today on I will start to write about my following years in Britain.

Today my girlfriend left me after an enjoyable long summer vacation with her, and I won't see her again face to face until some months. Official (in my mind) it means that I have started the journey to England, and all my following days will be me preparing to leave my home town Stavanger and Country Norway.

This fall I am going to attend to the Arts University Bournemouth, where I am going to be for at least the next 3 years. I have become one of the lucky people that are allowed to join a new group of students at the (BA) Hons Film Production course. (Please don't hesitate to contact me if any of you are out there).

I am going to move in a little house, around 50 min away from the school, with 2 of my best friends. The only thing left for the next weeks are packing, working to get more money, and finishing the payment.

I feel incredibly lucky to get this opportunity, and I am looking forward for the next three adventures years in Britain.
